Work Experience

All Year 10 students engage in Work Experience for a week.

This is an important part of Ridgeway Academy’s Careers Education provision and provides an invaluable experience for our students.

Students will need to seek out their own placements. This is an excellent opportunity for students to engage in work, build their skills and consider their personal career pathway.

Year 7 work shadowing

Work shadowing is an opportunity for students to go to work with a parent/guardian/family member or family friend for the day. This will enable the student to get an insight into the world of work.

This is hugely beneficial for students as they have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of working away from the classroom environment. Work shadowing encourages pupils to gain an understanding of a range of aspects of working, including; commuting, relationships formed within a workplace as well as the variety of skills that a job requires.
